My Christmas Music Playlist // Blogmas Day 4

Happy Blogmas Day 4!

Hey all! To be honest, I’ve been playing Christmas music since November 1st, so let’s just say I’ve had some time to compile the ultimate Christmas playlist! 😀 Since I’ve been trying to figure out ideas of what to post during Blogmas, I thought that telling you guys about my Christmas playlist would be perfect as it’s Christmas-themed and who doesn’t love music? 😉

So let’s get started!

  • It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas
  • Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
  • Jingle Bells
  • Winter Wonderland
    • I absolutely love all of these songs- especially when sung by the one and only, Michael Bublé!
  • Santa’s Coming For Us
  • Snowman
  • Candy Cane Lane
    • These are just some of my favourites from Sia’s new Christmas album. They are truly unique and festive!
  • Santa Tell Me
  • Last Christmas
    • Love these songs by Ariana Grande 🙂
  • Mistletoe
    • Justin Beiber will forever be the essence of Christmas for me forever haha 😀
  • All I Want For Christmas Is You
    • What would be a Christmas playlist without this Christmas classic and Mariah Carey?
  • Santa Baby
    • I much prefer this song sung by the Glee cast (aka the brilliant actress of Santana Lopez)
  • Feliz Navidad
    • This Christmas jingle by José Feliciano can get anyone to stand up and dance!
  • Rocking Around the Christmas Tree
  • Deck The Halls
  • Jingle Bell Rock
    • These last three are sung by generic artists, however, they are still Christmas classics!

And there you go! I hope you enjoyed this short post and I hope you can post some of these amazing tracks on your Christmas Playlist! Have a wonderful day and I’ll see you tomorrow,

Leigh 🙂

November Book Wrap Up & December TBR // Blogmas day 3

Hey all! Happy day 3 of Blogmas!

Since it’s the 3rd of December, I thought it would be a good idea to tell you guys the books I’ve finished reading in November and the books I want to read in December. BTW, Since my exams were over by November, I was able to read more than I normally do- so don’t start thinking that I normally read this much (I usually read like, 1 😀 ). This also allows me to have high expectations of what to read in the December holidays. Anyways, like always I will be linking the items below and I’ll give each book ratings /100%, out of the following categories (based on polandbananasBOOKS’ videos):

  • Getting into it
  • Funny
  • Romance
  • Relateable
  • Boring parts
  • Sad
  • Rating

So, let’s get started with the wrap-up 🙂

  1. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
    • Genre: Fantasy/science fiction
    • Getting into it: 100%
    • Funny: 95%
    • Romance: 100%
    • Relatable: 40%
    • Boring parts: None
    • Sad: 30%
    • Rating: 100%
  2. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (The Hunger Games #3)
    • Genre: Fantasy/science fiction
    • Getting into it: 10% (soooooooo slow)
    • Funny: 0%
    • Romance: 50% (It’s really stupid)
    • Relatable: 10%
    • Boring parts: 65%
    • Sad: 35%
    • Rating: 50%
  3. A Court of Mist & Fury by Sarah J. Mass (A Court of Thorns & Roses #2)
    • Genre: Romance Fantasy
    • Getting into it: 70% (slow beginning)
    • Funny: 70%
    • Romance: 100%
    • Relatable: 0%
    • Boring parts: 5%
    • Sad: 10%
    • Rating: 100%

As you can tell from my wrap up, I highly recommend reading the Darkest Minds and A Court of Mist & Fury (after reading A Court of Thorns & Roses of course. However, I must warn you that the 1st one is nowhere near as good). Mockingjay however, I must say is quite a let down for the ending of the Hunger Games trilogy. Especially after having two amazing books (The Hunger Games & Catching Fire) before this one.

December TBR (to be read)

  • Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken (The Darkest Minds #2)
  • The Scorch Trials by James Dashner (The Maze Runner #2)
  • A Court of Wings & Ruin (A Court of Thorns & Roses #3)

Thank you guys for reading my November book wrap up & December TBR and happy Blogmas day 3! I hope you have a wonderful day and I’ll see you tomorrow! 🙂

P.S. I am the queen of having irrelevant photos on my blog posts, and since I read all of this month’s books via ebook or audiobook, I added a photo of Lady Midnight & Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Claire (Comment down below if you want to do a review on them). 🙂

Writing a Novella Part 1 // Blogmas Day 2

Happy Blogmas Day 2!

Hey all! On November 30th I decided to participate in the Somerset National Novella Writing Competition. This competition gives high schoolers around Australia the opportunity to write a Novella and submit it to Penguin Random House and have the chance to receive recognition and prizes! What you need to do, is a complete an entire  Novella or short story ranging from 8,000-20,000 words and submit it by the 20th of December.

Why I’m participating

I have always wanted to write something. I was never sure what exactly, but I knew that one day I wanted to create something and put my name on it. Fortunately, this competition allows me to do just that 🙂 Disclaimer: I do not believe I am a professional/any good of a writer nor do I expect to win this competition at all. I mean with a cash prize of $2,500, it would be great to win, but what are the odds? 😀 I also want to say that I went into this competition without having any idea of what I was going to write. Smart, I know 😉

My Goal

My goal is to just complete this Novella. I know it sounds stupid but I am known for just starting and finishing projects (aka this blog last year) however, with doing these regular writing posts, I think I can stick with this one. I also want to complete my Novella to the best of my ability and be proud of the finished product. In order to achieve this goal, I believe that I will need to write in about 400-1,000 words a day to reach 8,000-20,000 words (depending on how my story will go) before December 20th.

My writing journey so far

With a completely blank canvas, I started my Novella journey On November 30th. I figured out somewhat of the storyline, characters and places I wanted in my Novella and even the plot twist I was planning on having at the end. But, no title yet. By planning beforehand, I was able to write the begging of my story and introduce (not in grave detail) the characters and places. Even though it was messy, at least I had figured out the basis of my story.

Word Count Day 1: 472 words

On December the 1st I continued my story allowing, my main character to know the appearance and visual characteristics of some of my other characters. I also established the current setting and what it looked like. However, today I mostly just edited what I wrote yesterday.

Word Count Day 2: 990 words

Until December 20th, I will continuously be documenting my writing journey in parts. This will ensure that I will keep writing my Novella, and so in the future, I will be able to look on my very first Novella writing journey. 😀 At the very end, I will hopefully, also be able to post my Novella on my blog (hopefully it’s not too big of a file) 🙂

Thanks for reading! See you guys tomorrow, bye!

Cyber Tuesday Haul // Blogmas Day 1

Happy Blogmas Day 1!

Hey all, If you don’t know what Blogmas is, it is the event for bloggers when they blog every day from December 1st-December 24th (24 days of Blogmas). I chose to celebrate Blogmas, as I wanted to do more with my blog, therefore, by doing Blogmas it will force me to blog every day until Christmas!

Cyber Tuesday

On cyber Tuesday I had the pleasure of watching ‘The Murder on The Orient Express’ and going shopping with a couple of friends. I loved the movie and was continuously gasping throughout it which for certain, probably annoyed more than a few people 😀

For those who are confused, yes the title says cyber Tuesday- not Monday, for a reason. In the USA cyber Monday occurs after Thanksgiving, however, because of the time difference and because Thanksgiving is not celebrated in Australia, our cyber Tuesday is more about celebrating the kick-start of the Christmas shopping season with some delightful sales 🙂

P.S. Sorry that I wasn’t bothered to take my own photos. Instead, I chose one from my Instagram of me and some of the friends who I went out with on that day. However, some of the product links are below (B&BW didn’t have the updated Christmas scents on the website yet).

So, let’s start the haul!

BATH & BODY WORKS

Firstly, I stopped at Bath & Body Works. At the time their sale was ‘buy 3 items & get 2 more free’. Considering how pricey Bath & Body Works can be I considered this to be a Christmas miracle :D. There I bought my new favourite scent  ‘Gingerbread latte’, in a body mist. I had always originally planned to get this product after seeing it in one of India Grace’s YouTube videos where she highly recommended it, and now it’s probably one of the best purchases I have ever made 🙂

Next, I bought a shea & sparkle scrub, in the scent ‘Vanilla Beam Noel’ (which is another new favourite scent of mine). Although at first, I was very confused what a sparkle scrub was, I found out it was an exfoliator, which was exactly what I was looking for.

Lastly, I got the ‘A Thousand Wishes’ gift set, which included a shower gel, body mist and a body lotion, all in travel size. I also got an ultra shea body cream in ‘Japanese Cherry Blossom’ and a body lotion in ‘Juniper Breeze’. All of these products are gifts for some of my friends so hopefully, they won’t read this and know what they’re getting 😀

SUPRE

At Supré, there was a sale for 50% off for all shorts. As I was looking for shorts this was perfect. However, because I was saving money up for my next purchase, I could only afford to buy one pair. The pair I chose was the Miami Denim Shorts in ‘Washed Black’. This was perfect as I had been looking for a pair of black shorts for a while.

NOVO

Lastly, one of my friends recalled seeing a sale at Novo the day before. As at the time I was looking for sock boots (as I am very short), I immediately went in. To my delight, all boots were on a 30$ sale. There, I found a perfect pair of black high heeled ankle boots in the colour black. Not to mention that too my luck, they were the last in stock with the original price was at 90$. 😉

So there we go! That was my small cyber Tuesday hall and my Blogamas day 1 post! I hope you liked it. I’ll see you tomorrow, bye! 😀

Christmas Gift Ideas For Teens / My Christmas Wish-list

Hey guys!

Before December came around I wanted to figure out what to put on my Christmas wish-list and  some cool Christmas gift ideas. So, lets get started 🙂

Firstly, let’s start with the most general and easy gifts:

  • Money (the most lazy gift)
  • Girt cards to buy clothing from stores such as:
    • Valleygirl
    • Supre
    • Jay Jays
    • Universal Store
    • Sportsgirl
    • Colette by Hyman

These stores are just some of the most popular teen clothing/jewellery stores found in Australia, but gift cards to anyone’s favourite store can an amazing gift.

Now for the more specific gifts:

  • Lush:
    • Sea Spray (hair mist)- $16.95
    • Eau Roma Water (facial toner)- $10.95
    • Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner- $35.45

Specifically, I want these products. However, pretty much anything from Lush would be amazing.

  • Supre:
    • Full Length Leggings- $15
    • Cancun denim rolled hem shorts (in navy blue)- $40
  • Jay Jays
    • Fray hem mis rise shorts (in marble wash)- $39.95
    • Cut off short (in black)- $34.95

I mentioned these stores in the gift store options above, but for me, I have been looking for some active wear and shorts to purchase so I thought I would put them on my wish-list instead:)

  • Apple:
    • 13-inch Macbook pro- $1,899

Definitely on the more pricy-side of things, however, a new laptop would definitely make anyone’s Christmas a special one.

  • Sephora:
    • Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette- $42
    • Two Faced Better Than Sex Mascara- $23

For the makeup lovers, here are two popular high-end products that most teens would die for (including me 🙂 ).

  • Factorie:
    • The Ratbag Sunnies (sunglasses)- $14.95
  • City Beach:
    • Adidas Trefoil Cap- $29.99
    • Lipstik Matra Heeled boots- $89.95

When it’s hot and sunny out, who doesn’t love to wear a cute cap and sunnies to wear for the summer? Also these boots are a wardrobe must-have for all year round.

  • Officeworks
    • Beats Solo 3 Wireless Gold (headphones)- $333

Even though it’s more on the expensive end, it’s so worth it. Beats are the most functional & fashionable way to listen to your music.

And there you go! I hope you liked this short list of Christmas gift ideas and what’s currently on my wish-list. Hope you have a wonderful day and stay tuned for more!

Airplane essentials

HAPPY BLOGMAS!

Yes, I know that I’m a LITTLE late to the Blogmas game, and am not willing to blog every day until Christmas, BUT… It doesn’t mean I can’t celebrate Blogmas as well 😉 haha.

Since its the Christmas season, many families are going on holiday to celebrate. My family is going to America & Canda for 5 weeks! Since we live in Australia, we have a 24 hour-ish flight to LA then to New York! (not so excited about that part). However, having good airplane essentials while on a flight can make the crying baby  and the puking kid behind you little less of a nightmare (true story).

  1. Facial moisturiser: While on a plane the altitude can dehydrate your skin. The facial moisturiser I use is the clean & clear essentials moisturiser that cleanses and moisturises your face. I got mine just at Coles (I know fancy right)
  2. Lip balm: flights can seriously dry out your lips, so using the Lano Lips 101 Ointment Multi-Balm is perfect. For more detail look at my last post here where I reviewed the product
  3. Hand Cream: I love using the Strawberry Fields Hand Cream from Colette by Colette Haymon. This has the perfect smell and fully moisturizes your hands!
  4. Socks!: What would a flight be without the perfect pair of socks? Obviously ,Thick and cozy sock would be perfect especially when it gets super cold during the flight but for the sake of the photo, I got these adorable panda socks from Sportsgirl.
  5. Pocket Mirror: When leaving the plane, making sure that you don’t look like a rat can be very important. Having a pocket mirror is just an easy item to carry along just to check how you’re looking. I got this cute pink/rose gold pocket mirror from Sportsgirl
  6. Earphones: I forgot to add this to the photo, but its a must! Perfect to block the sound of crying babies!

I hope that my tips were useful and happy flying!

Lano Lips: 101 Ointment Multi-Balm Review*

My first blog post!

The Lano Lips 101 Ointment Multi-Balm is a balm that hydrates

and norises dry lips, skin patches, cuticles, nasal passages & more. The flavours I had were Strawberry & Green Apple (Peach is also available).

When I first saw the ‘A Little Tube of Magic’ sign on the back of the tube, I was first a little hesitant totry it incase I would be dissappointed. I mean, was this ‘little tube of magic’ really up to what it said? Well, In most aspects it was truley was magical! This balm instantly hydrated & nurished my lips, dry skin patches & more!

However,  the flavours of the multi-balms that I tried, which were Strawberry and Green Apple, were not as magical than antissipated as the taste was a little off and the smell was ok… Overall, this is a great product to use in the colder seasons!

You can find the Lano Lips 101 Ointment Multi-Balms Online here and in stores like Mecca Maxima, David Jones and Priceline at the price of $14.95 each.
